Health Club HVAC Hygiene – Natatorium, Infrared Sauna & Fitness Floor
Client: An established health club featuring a full natatorium, infrared sauna, and open fitness floor. Scope: Scheduled HVAC hygiene service covering rooftop units, VAV boxes, pool-side air handlers, and the dedicated sauna exhaust.
Challenges
• Persistent moisture from the pool deck and temperature swings from the sauna caused lint, corrosion scale, and condensate residue to build up in supply and return trunks. • The club’s facilities run daily classes and member sessions, so all work had to be performed at night with zero disruption.
Execution
- Night Shift Setup & Negative-Air Control
• Over two overnight windows, WellDuct staged HEPA-filtered negative-air machines at each rooftop unit to create proper suction and containment. • Every duct run was mechanically agitated to dislodge debris, and the VAV boxes serving the cardio mezzanine and locker rooms were opened, vacuumed, and wiped.
- Pool-Side Air Handler & Condensate Treatment
• Coils, drain pans, and condensate lines on the natatorium air handler were flushed and treated with an EPA-registered biocide to remove condensate slime and prevent microbial regrowth.
- Infrared Sauna Exhaust & Terminal Fixtures
• The sauna’s dedicated exhaust line was brush-cleaned, sanitized, and inspected for corrosion. • All diffusers, grilles, and returns throughout the facility were removed, washed, and reinstalled to ensure a uniform finish.
Result
• Final airflow balancing and particulate sampling confirmed the system was clean, odor-free, and ready for another maintenance cycle. • Members and classes were never disrupted—proof that medical-grade service can be delivered around a client’s busy schedule.
